Our mission is to support young individuals involved in the CHOICES, INC. youth mentoring program who demonstrate a commitment to mental health awareness and drug prevention initiatives. Through this scholarship, we aim to empower the next generation of leaders and advocates in our communities.


Scholarship Purpose and Goals

Purpose:

The CHOICES, INC. Scholarship Fund aims to empower youth engaged in the CHOICES, INC. mentoring program by providing financial assistance for their college education. The fund is specifically designed for those who actively participate in initiatives promoting mental health awareness and drug prevention within their communities.

Goals:

• Encourage Higher Education: Increase access to college education for youth who might otherwise face financial barriers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

• Promote Leadership in Community Health: Inspire recipients to take active roles in their communities as advocates for mental health and drug prevention, thereby cultivating future leaders in these critical areas.

• Recognize Advocacy Efforts: Acknowledge and reward the contributions of youth who demonstrate outstanding commitment to promoting mental health awareness and preventing substance abuse, thus encouraging continued involvement.

Eligibility Criteria

• Target Group: Participants in the CHOICES, INC. mentoring program who are in their high school senior year or currently enrolled in college.

• Academic Requirements: A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, ensuring that recipients maintain a satisfactory academic standing while pursuing their education.

• Community Involvement: Applicants must provide evidence of their participation in at least one community project or activity focused on mental health awareness or drug prevention, such as workshops, volunteer opportunities, or school programs.

• Essays/Personal Statements: Applicants are required to submit a personal essay (500-750 words) detailing their experiences in mental health advocacy or drug prevention, highlighting their personal motivations and future aspirations in these fields.

Scholarship Amount and Number of Awards

• Amount: Scholarships will range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on available funding and specific needs of the applicants.

• Frequency: The scholarship will be awarded annually, with the possibility of granting multiple scholarships each year based on the number of qualified applicants and the total funds raised.

• Application Deadline: April 30, 2026

• Notification Date: July 1, 2026
